Bio – Clarissa Jones-Winter

Ms. Jones-Winter was promoted to the role of Associate Dean for Faculty, Staff, and Trainee Relations in January 2021. She joined Mount Sinai’s Department of Labor Relations as Director in 2014, and was recruited to ISMMS as the Director of Employee Relations in 2016 to address the needs and concerns in the academic arm. Ms. Jones-Winter has exhibited an impressive talent for understanding the roles and concerns of both faculty and staff, and is also an expert at conducting investigations and resolving conflicts. Ms. Jones-Winter is a valued advisor and collaborator to our administrative leaders—including deans, department chairs, institute directors and department administrators—as well as to faculty and staff on HR and employee relation matters across the School and Health System. She will continue to perform all of these functions as an Associate Dean.

Ms. Jones-Winter’s professional history prior to Sinai includes working as a law firm associate in New York and Berlin, Germany, and service as an Associate Director at the New York State Nurses Association. Ms. Jones-Winter earned double Bachelor of Arts degrees in Anthropology and Political Science from Howard University.  She also holds a Master’s in Public Policy and International Affairs from the University of Minnesota, and received her Juris Doctorate from Georgetown University.
