October 19, 2023 | Discussions on Women’s Health Conversation
The Black Women Leaders Connect ERG had two guest speakers at their 10/25/23 meeting:
– Karen Wish, CMO, Mount Sinai Hospital Network, to promote a new campaign with the Cardiology and Cancer service lines; and
– Yvette Cozier, D.Sc, an Epidemiologist at Boston University’s Slone Epidemiology Center, to discuss results of a 25-year study on Black women’s health.

March 23, 2023 | Panel Event: The Importance of Building Relationships
The Black Women Leaders Connect Employee Resource Group hosted a panel on the importance of building relationships in the workplace by sharing experiences and offering tips.
The panel was moderated by Lyndia Hayden, MS, PMP, Senior Director of Data Integrity and Equity Analytics in the Office for Diversity and Inclusion, and featured LeWanza Harris, MD, MPH, MBA, MS, Vice President of Quality and Regulatory Affairs, Wendy O’Brien, BSN, MBA, Vice President and Chief Nursing Finance Officer, and Kimberley Ennis, DNP, APRN-BC, Senior Director of Nursing at Mount Sinai Queens.

March 8, 2021 | Mount Sinai Launches Program to Increase Black Women Leaders in Executive Roles
Recognizing the importance of role models in increasing diversity and inclusion at the executive level in health care, Black women who are executive- and senior-level administrative and clinical leaders at the Mount Sinai Health System have joined together to create a mentoring program called “Black Women Leaders Connect.” This first-of-its-kind initiative is focused on increasing the recruitment and elevation of Black women to executive roles in health care and to nurturing and guiding the next generation of leaders within Mount Sinai and in the community.

October 15, 2023 | Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk
This marks the third year that the Black Women Leaders Connect Employee Resource Group (ERG) joined the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk.
Mount Sinai employees and their families joined the 4 mile walk in Central Park and helped the group raise over $2,900 which helps to find breakthrough research, 24/7 support for breast cancer patients, access to lifesaving screenings, and much more!

June 1, 2023 | Panel Event: Mental Health – Taking Care of Ourselves
The Black Women Leaders Connect Employee Resource Group gathered for a networking event and hosted the Mental Health-Taking Care of Yourself panel.
It was an engaging and informative conversation that touched upon many mental health topics including managing stress, the importance of therapy, and letting go of grief.

December 7, 2022 | Mount Sinai Mammography Screening Event
On December 7, 2022, the Black Women Leaders Connect Employee Resource Group partnered with the Mount Sinai Mobile Mammography Program to offer Mammogram Screening. Mammogram screenings were provided to 9 patients, 7 of which were Mount Sinai staff.
One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point in their lives. Early detection is key to surviving this disease. We at Mount Sinai want to help. We offer a mobile mammography program that brings diagnostic technology to all five boroughs of New York City.

October 12, 2022 | Making Strides Against Breast Cancer
Sunday, October 16, was the 2nd annual Black Women Leaders Connect walk for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer in Central Park.
The group raised $2,800, which helps to fund breakthrough research, 24/7 support for breast cancer patients, access to lifesaving screenings, and much more!

September 27, 2022 | Wellness and Beauty Panel Discussion
The Black Women Leaders Connect Employee Resource Group gathered yesterday for a lively Meet & Greet.
The convening opened with a 15-minute mediation session and featured an engaging panel on health and wellness topics including lifestyle tips, hair loss, “protective” care, therapies and treatments, healthy eating, skincare misconceptions, juggling work and family, and setting boundaries.
Moderator, Dr. Tamiesha Frempong led the conversation, hearing insights from panelists Dr. Chaneve Jeanniton, Dr. Angela Lamb and Dr. Achiamah Osei-Tutu.
